Medical examiner to look into death of New York Times media columnist David Carr

The New York City medical examiner's office says it plans to look into the death of New York Times media columnist David Carr.

Carr collapsed at his office and died Thursday. He wrote the Media Equation column for The Times.

The medical examiner's office said Friday that it will be examining his death. It's unclear how long it will take for the findings.

Just hours before his collapse, Carr had moderated a "Times Talks" conversation with Edward Snowden, director Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald.

The topic was the documentary "Citizenfour," which chronicles Snowden's leak of National Security Agency documents.

Carr wrote a memoir in 2008 that traces his rise from cocaine addict to single dad raising twin girls to sobered-up media columnist for The Times.
