Medical examiner says all 6 killed in NY train-car collision had blunt-force injuries, burns

A New York medical examiner has found that all six of the people killed in a horrific collision between a commuter train and an SUV suffered blunt-force injuries and burns.

The findings are based on autopsies conducted by the Westchester County medical examiner's office.

A statement released Tuesday by the county doesn't specify the cause of death for any of those killed.

It says the medical examiner's final report will not be completed until the conclusion of an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The collision at a railroad crossing Feb. 3 in Valhalla killed five men on a Metro-North commuter train and a woman whose SUV was hit by the train.

A fire erupted and pieces of the railroad's electrified third rail pierced the SUV and the train.
