McClatchy operations vice president to retire after almost 5 decades in newspapers
The McClatchy Company operations vice president, Robert J. Weil, will retire in June after a newspaper career that spans almost five decades.
The company announced Thursday that Weil's last day will be June 30. He has worked with McClatchy for 18 years as a newspaper publisher and senior executive.
Weil is one of two vice presidents for operations. He oversees 13 markets and their affiliated digital and print operations in six states.
McClatchy's president and CEO Pat Talamantes says Weil has been a mentor to many in the company.
Talamantes says McClatchy will develop a new organizational structure following Weil's retirement and no successor will be named.
Weil joined McClatchy in 1994 as publisher of The Fresno Bee.
