MarketWatch Jobs Forecast For January Cut To 235,000

WASHINGTON – Economic forecasters have chopped their estimate for job creation in January after softer readings in several other employment indicators. Analysts polled by MarketWatch project a gain of 235,000 nonfarm jobs last month, down from an earlier forecast of 245,000. The main reason: a surprisingly large decline in the employment gauge of the ISM services index. The monthly ADP report on hiring was also weaker in January compared to December.
