Markets Right Now: Dow, S&P 500 notch record highs

Stocks are closing at more record highs on Wall Street as technology and industrial companies and banks post gains.

Apple added 1 percent Friday, while Boeing moved up 1.5 percent.

The Dow Jones industrial average and Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at record highs. The S&P 500, the benchmark for many index funds, had it best week since the first week of the year.

Business software maker Oracle slumped 7.7 percent after issuing a disappointing forecast for its cloud computing business.

The S&P 500 index rose 4 points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,500. It rose 1.6 percent for the week.

The Dow added 64 points, or 0.3 percent, to 22,268. The Nasdaq composite increased 19 points, or 0.3 percent, to 6,448.

U.S. stocks are edging higher in midday trading on Wall Street, led by more gains for technology and industrial companies.

Apple added 1.4 percent Friday, while Boeing moved up 1.5 percent.

The gains put the Dow Jones industrial average on track for another record high.

Business software maker Oracle slumped 6.5 percent after issuing a disappointing forecast for its cloud computing business.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up 2 points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,498.

The Dow rose 50 points, or 0.2 percent, to 22,253. The Nasdaq composite increased 24 points, or 0.4 percent, to 6,453.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.20 percent.

U.S. stock indexes are inching mostly higher in early trading on Wall Street as more gains for Boeing send the Dow Jones industrial average above the record high it reached a day earlier.

Other major indexes were little changed in the first few minute of trading on Friday. Health care stocks were higher, while technology companies fell.
