Market Day food co-op that helps schools raise money laying off 43 in western Pennsylvania

A food cooperative that sells fundraising programs to schools is laying off 43 workers at it western Pennsylvania office.

The Butler Eagle (http://bit.ly/1IQwekZ ) reports Market Day in Cranberry Township has filed notice with the state Department of Labor and Industry that it plans to lay off the workers about March 7.

The state requires 60 days' notice for such layoffs, and the newspaper says the letter was filed Jan. 7.

The letter says the jobs are being cut because the company is restructuring its sales staff.

Market Day is based in Itasca, Illinois.

The Cranberry Township location is in Butler County, about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.
