Maine prices for kerosene and heating oil dip in early October
A Maine government survey says the average price of heating oil in the state dropped 5 cents from the end of September to $3.27 per gallon.
The Governor's Energy Office said Thursday that the average statewide price for a gallon of heating oil ranged from $2.88 to $3.60. It also found the average price of kerosene was five cents less than the end of last month at $3.83 per gallon. The average propane price is now $2.86, a 3-cent climb per gallon from last month. Heating oil is down 27 cents per gallon from a year ago while kerosene fell 12 cents. Propane is 21 cents more expensive.
The survey found that the average oil price was most expensive in northern Maine, while kerosene was most expensive in southwestern Maine.
