Maine heating prices decline another 3 cents as cold season gets underway

A Maine government survey says the average statewide cash price for heating oil dropped 3 cents in the past week.

The Governor's Energy Office says the average price according to the Nov. 24 survey was $3.03. The average kerosene price of $3.62 was the same as the previous week. Propane prices declined one cent to $2.82. Heating oil averaged $3.56 per gallon a year ago at this time, while kerosene dropped 34 cents in that time and propane rose 5 cents.

The highest price for heating oil was again found in central Maine, where prices reached $3.40. The lowest prices were in southwestern Maine, where the low mark was $2.66.
