Machinery companies shares mixed at the close of trading

Shares of some top machinery companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Caterpillar rose $1.32 or 1.6 percent, to $84.60.

Deere & Co. rose $1.39 or 1.6 percent, to $88.90.

Manitowoc fell $.09 or .4 percent, to $20.08.

Terex rose $.26 or 1.0 percent, to $27.53.
