Las Vegas visitation up 3.1 percent in June, helped by boost in convention attendance

The number of visitors coming to Las Vegas jumped 3.1 percent in June compared with a year earlier, helped by a lift in convention attendance.

A report released Friday by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority says almost 3.5 million people came to Sin City last month, compared with about 3.4 million last June.

Convention attendance climbed 13.7 percent year-over-year mostly because shows that weren't held in Las Vegas last year rotated in and because of a new show. The international audiovisual expo InfoComm returned, drawing 37,000 people, and the newcomer American Library Association brought in 20,300 attendees.

The number of visitors to Las Vegas has increased by 4.2 percent so far this year compared to the same period in 2013.
