Landscaper dies in North Las Vegas palm tree after being trapped by cut fronds

A Nevada fire official says a landscaper was high up in a palm tree when he lost consciousness and eventually died after being trapped by cut fronds.

North Las Vegas Fire Capt. Cedric Williams says a high-angle team removed the man's body from the 25- to 30-foot tree Monday evening.

The Clark County coroner didn't immediately identify the man or determine a cause of death.

Williams says the first firefighters arrived in the residential area southeast of downtown North Las Vegas at about 4:30 p.m. He says they couldn't see the man in the tree because of the palm fronds surrounding him.

Crews used a ladder truck to reach the man and cut the fronds away, but they found he was already dead.
