Kerry to open 2015 diplomatic travel with trip to India
Secretary of State John Kerry will kick off what is expected to be a hectic 2015 overseas travel schedule this weekend with a visit to India and potentially other stops.
The State Department said Tuesday that Kerry would lead the U.S. delegation to a meeting of business executives and innovators in Ahmedabad, India on January 10. The meeting will focus on sustainable economic growth and will be opened by India's prime minister. Additional stops may be added to Kerry's trip, the department said.
In his first two years as America's top diplomat, Kerry has set a grueling travel pace. Thus far, he has spent 289 days on the road, flown 664,074 miles and visited 57 countries, according to the State Department.
