The Grammy Award-winning artist started work on "No Mercy" in December 2009 to mark his comeback after being released from prison, but he was returned to jail in November for violating the terms of his probation with a September drug arrest.

A reflective T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, announced the new album on his website Tuesday while sharing with fans a few lessons from prison.

"The longer I sit, the smarter I get," he wrote.

"It does'nt [sic] matter how long it'll be before the next time you see me. What matters is that I'll be a better man before that time comes," he continued as he poured out his heart.

"How do you tell God Almighty that all you wanna do is LIVE LIFE ??? What if all you wanna do is be a father to your kids, a husband to your wife, and son to your mother."

"That's the topic of discussion between me and the MOST HIGH at the moment. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out," he added.

The 30-year-old recorded 2008's "Paper Trail" while under house arrest after pleading guilty to a federal weapons charge.
