Intuitive Surgical Inc. late Tuesday said its third-quarter earnings fell to $123.7 million, or $3.35 a share, from $156.8 million, or $3.99 a share, in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue increased to $550.1 million versus $499 million a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, the maker of da Vinci robotic surgery systems would have earned $3.92 a share, signficantly ahead of $2.94 a share forecast by analysts in a FactSet survey. Shares of Intuitive Surgical rose 4.7% in after hours to $519.
