'Insurgent,' 'Cinderella' beat the boys at the box office; new Sean Penn flick debuts in 4th

The second installment in the teen dystopian series "Divergent" came in first at the weekend box office.

Lionsgate's "Insurgent," starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James, opened to more than $52 million in ticket sales. Last week's champ, Disney's "Cinderella," slid to second place with nearly $35 million.

A trio of male-led action flicks round out the top five. Warner Bros.' "Run All Night," starring Liam Neeson and Ed Harris, earned just over $5 million in its second week of release, followed closely by Open Road's "The Gunman." The geopolitical thriller starring Sean Penn opened in fourth place.
