MarketWatch Pulse

Here's a sign of how relentless U.S. stocks have been in their march higher: The S&P 500 will close out 2014 without ever having suffered four down sessions in a row during the year. This is the first calendar year ever in which the index has avoided four consecutive days of declines, according to Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices, who cites data going back to 1928. This data point was first reported by Dow Jones Market Talk.
