IKEA Recalls 11,000 Bat Capes That Pose Strangulation Risk

IKEA said Thursday it was recalling LATTJO bat capes, citing "risk of strangulation to consumers," after the company received reports of children's necks being scratched. The recall involves 11,000 capes that are black with gray stripes, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, following three reports of injuries outside the U.S. The capes were sold in U.S. stores and online for $12.99 between November 2015 and February 2016, IKEA said. "The fabric hook and loop fastener at the neck of the bat cape may not detach readily during use, posing a risk of strangulation to consumers," IKEA said in a statement. "Please immediately take the LATTJO bat cape away from children and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required."
