Hundreds of Brown University students protest college's handling of sexual assault allegations

Hundreds of Brown University students have gathered on campus to protest how the college handled recent sexual assault allegations.

Protesters silently marched Wednesday through university hall, which houses the office of the school's president.

Many protesters taped $1 bills across their mouths. The organizers say this symbolizes how victims have been silenced by the school.

The Ivy League university recently dropped its inquiry into drugging allegations by two female students who attended a party hosted Oct. 17 by the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

Organizer Jeanette Sternberg Lamb says the protest is a way to offer support to the women, who joined in the march but chose to remain anonymous.

College spokesman Mark Nickel says the university is confident in the integrity of its process and the decisions that were made.
