Humana Reaffirms Third-quarter And Full-year EPS Guidance

Humana Inc. reaffirmed its guidance Tuesday of $7.75 in adjusted earnings per share for the fiscal year 2015 and $2.15 for the quarter ending Sept. 30. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected adjusted earnings per share of $7.76 for the year and $2.14 for the quarter On a GAAP basis, the company issued guidance of $2.08 per share for the third quarter and $9.18 for the fiscal year. This is the same guidance Humana gave in its previous earnings statement, but the company said the numbers now include expenses from a proposed merger with Aetna Inc. The 2015 earnings per share guidance does not include a pretax gain of $267 million from the sale of a subsidiary. The third quarter and full-year guidance also don't include pretax transaction costs of $17 million.
