H&R Block Inc. posted a narrower-than-expected quarterly loss late Wednesday but revenue came in under Wall Street expectations. The consumer tax-service firm reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of 13 cents a share on revenue of $509.1 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had estimated a loss of 30 cents a share on revenue of $517.7 million. H&R Block shares rose 1% to $33.75 on moderate volume.
