Home Depot Hiring 80,000 for Spring Season

Home Depot (NYSE:HD) has started filling seasonal positions and expects to hire 80,000 employees this spring, the company announced Wednesday.

This year’s seasonal hiring is up 10,000, or 14%, over 2012. Open positions include part-time and full-time work based on individual store needs and local climate.

Home Depot added that it launched an online tool to help military veterans match their skills with positions at the company.

The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer likened the spring to its version of the Christmas selling season.

“Spring is always a special season for us, when we can offer employment opportunities for literally tens of thousands of Americans,” Tim Crow, executive vice president of human resources, said in a statement.

Shares of Home Depot were down 23 cents to $66.16 in pre-market trading.
