Hearing reset on Nevada effort to block ride-sharing firm Uber from operating in Las Vegas

A court hearing on an effort by state regulators and taxi companies to block the ride-sharing company Uber from operating in Nevada has been pushed back to Monday.

Scheduling conflicts prompted Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Herndon to reset a Friday hearing on an injunction sought by the Nevada Transportation Authority.

The judge decided last month not to issue a temporary restraining order against the company.

He says the state failed to show Uber was causing irreparable harm.

Nevada regulators have tried to shut down Uber since it launched Oct. 24.

Taxicab authority officers began issuing citations and impounding cars after investigators in some cases posed as Uber customers.

Uber faces fierce opposition from the taxi industry in the popular Las Vegas Strip area and nearby McCarran International Airport.
