HealthSouth Short On Earnings, 2015 Forecast

HealthSouth Corp. said Tuesday that fourth-quarter net income was $40.5 million, or 44 cents a share, swinging from a loss of $26.5 million, or 31 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Net revenue for the Birmingham, Ala.-based hospital operator was $613.4 million against last year's $572.1 million, with both figures excluding doubtful account provisions. Adjusted earnings were 45 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected earnings of 49 cents a share on revenue of $609.6 million. HealthSouth said it sees 2015 earnings of $2.24 to $2.29 a share, short of the FactSet forecast of $2.42 a share. HealthSouth shares ended Tuesday trading up marginally to $45.36.
