Health care business GeminiCares closing, 700 Wisconsin employees will lose jobs
A company that provides home and respite care to elderly and disabled people around Wisconsin plans to end operations next month and lay off its 700 employees.
GeminiCares, based in Slinger, has employees in 11 communities in Wisconsin. Its notice to the state Department of Workforce Development says its current clients will be transferred to the care of other agencies.
GeminiCares president Kathy Rublee said in the notice to the state that the majority of the positions in the company will be eliminated on May 31, but several positions will continue through the end of July.
Besides Slinger, GeminiCares has employees in Adams, Hayward, Eau Claire, La Crosse, Marinette, Neillsville, Reedsburg, Stevens Point, Whitehall and West Bend.
