Hawaiian, Alaska, Delta top airline on-time rankings; Spirit last with half of flights delayed

Here are the government's rankings of the leading airlines and their on-time performance for June. The federal government counts a flight as on time if it arrives within 14 minutes of schedule.

1. Hawaiian Airlines, 90.5 percent

2. Alaska Airlines, 87.4 percent

3. Delta Air Lines, 82.2 percent

4. Virgin America, 80.5 percent

5. US Airways, 78.5 percent

6. JetBlue Airways, 78.1 percent

7. SkyWest, 77.3 percent

8. American Airlines, 76.2 percent

9. Southwest Airlines, 72.5 percent

10. ExpressJet, 70.5 percent

11. Envoy Air, 70.2 percent

12. Frontier Airlines, 67.6 percent

13. United Airlines, 66.3 percent

14. Spirit Airlines, 49.9 percent

Total for all reporting airlines: 74.8 percent

The department also reported American and US Airways together as 77.2 percent. Both airlines and Envoy Air are owned by American Airlines Group Inc. The report does not cover smaller airlines including Allegiant Air and many regional carriers.
