H-P Shares Rise On Earnings Beat, Cautious Guidance

Hewlett-Packard Co. shares rose in the extended session Thursday after the computer and printer company topped Wall Street earnings estimates and issued a cautious guidance. H-P shares advanced 1.4% to $34.31 on moderate volume. The company reported adjusted fiscal second-quarter earnings of 87 cents a share on revenue of $25.45 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast 86 cents a share on revenue of $25.68 billion. H-P estimated adjusted earnings of 83 cents to 87 cents a share for the fiscal third quarter, and $3.53 to $3.73 a share for the year. Analysts expect 87 cents a share for the third quarter, and $3.66 a share for the year.
