GoPro to expand presence within Best Buy stores as it prepares for Hero4 debut
Action video camera maker GoPro is going to be taking up more space in Best Buy stores as it readies for the launch of its Hero4 cameras ahead of the holiday season.
GoPro Inc., which went public in June, said Friday that Hero4 goods will be available at Best Buy stores and on the consumer electronics retailer's website starting on Sunday.
The Hero4 product line will include the Hero4 Black and the Hero4 Silver cameras, which have a suggested list price of $499 and $399, respectively.
While GoPro has been available through Best Buy since 2010, it will be tripling the amount of space it takes up within the retailer's stores. GoPro will be adding new displays aimed at giving shoppers a better understanding of its products. Larger monitors will be used to show GoPro videos and more accessories will be offered.
The new displays will head out to 500 Best Buy stores starting this week.
Shares of San Mateo, California-based GoPro added $1.87, or 2.2 percent, to $87.33 in morning trading, while Best Buy Co.'s stock rose 49 cents to $33.21.
