Gold Settles Lower For 2nd Straight Day

Gold settled lower Wednesday for the second straight session as the U.S. dollar edged higher. The contract for February delivery settled $5.90, or 0.6%, lower at $1,0682.0 an ounce, but remains up 0.3% for the week. Meanwhile, the ICE U.S. Dollar index , a measure of the dollar's strength against a basket of six rivals, rose 0.3% to 98.4930.
