Gold Settles Down 1.1% To Just Under $1,812 An Ounce

Gold prices settled lower Monday on their way to wrapping up thinly-traded, volatile end-of-year activity. Gold for February delivery settled down $13.40, or 1.1%, at $1,811.90 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Silver for March delivery settled down nearly 37 cents, or 2.3%, at $15.78 an ounce.
