Gold Keeps Sliding To Settle Down 0.4% At $1,173.50 An Ounce

Gold prices continued their slide in the thinly traded holiday week. Gold for February delivery declined $4.50, or 0.4%, to settle at $1,173.50 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract is down 1.9% for the week. Silver for March delivery shed nearly 6 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $15.71 an ounce.
