GM Says Global Vehicle Sales Up 2% In Third Quarter
General Motors Co. said Wednesday global vehicle sales rose to 2.4 million units in the third quarter, up 2% from the same period a year ago. The auto company said it was the best third-quarter performance since 1980. Sales in the U.S. rose 8%, while sales in China rose 14%. The company is on track to surpass sales of 3 million vehicles in China for the second straight year. GM shares were slightly lower in early trade, and are down 26% in the year so far. The S&P 500 has gained 0.7% in the same period.
