Germany-based Adidas shakes up soccer shoe lineup, pushes marketing to urban runners US
German shoe and sports gear maker Adidas says it plans a new marketing push to increase soccer-boot sales and its share of the running shoe market in the United States.
Company officials laid out the plans in a statement Wednesday ahead of an investor event in Herzogenaurach, Germany, where the company is headquartered.
Adidas said it aims to increase its soccer business at a mid-single digit rate on average per year through 2020 through a completely new boot lineup represented by its X and Ace models.
The company said it wants to double running sales by 2020 by boosting its marketing effort in "global key cities," particularly in North America where it plans additional runner-focused stores in Los Angeles and New York City.
