General Mills To Meet Organic Production Goals By 2019

General Mills said it will now reach its goal of having 250,000 organic acres by 2019, which is sooner than expected. With more acres to source organic ingredients, the company expects to reach $1 billion in net sales from natural and organic products by 2019. The company said it is working with farmers and growers to help meet the production goals. The natural and organic food segment is expected to drive double-digit sales growth across the industry for the next five years. Shares of General Mills have gained 7% in one month, compared to the S&P 500's gain of 7%.
