Ford Recalls 281,000 Pickup Trucks

Ford (NYSE:F) is recalling about 281,000 F-150 pickup trucks made in 2009 and 2010 due to safety precautions related to a faulty spring in the interior door handle that could cause the door to open in a crash.

The automaker said the door handle spring could fail in the event of a side impact crash, causing the door latch to open. The recall deals with cars manufactured from Jan. 18, 2008, to Nov. 30, 2009.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the interior door handle’s spring could fracture during normal usage, resulting in insufficient spring force to return the handle to the fully stowed position.

Ford, which said there have been no crashes related to the faulty spring, expects to start the recall around Feb. 14.
