Feds approve $29M retraining grant to help laid-off Atlantic City casino workers find new jobs

The federal government has approved up to $29 million to help thousands of laid-off Atlantic City casino workers find new jobs.

The U.S. Labor Department announced a grant Tuesday to help those affected by the closure of four of Atlantic City's 12 casinos last year.

The feds are making $13 million available right away, with the rest to be released as the state demonstrates continued need for retraining money.

The Atlantic Club, Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza all shut down in 2014.

The National Emergency Grant is part of the Labor department's discretionary funds.
