Fatal crash near George Washington Bridge snarls traffic headed to Manhattan, New England
A fatal crash on a New Jersey interstate near the George Washington Bridge has snarled traffic headed to Manhattan and New England.
Trooper Alina Spies (speez) with the New Jersey State Police says a tractor-trailer and an SUV crashed on Interstate 95 just before 5 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes in Ridgefield Park.
Spies says the truck overturned, and its driver was killed. The SUV driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
One lane is open. But the overturned truck and wreckage are blocking the express and two local lanes northbound near the Interstate 80 split, which leads to the George Washington Bridge.
I-95 heads north to New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I-80 leads to the George Washington Bridge.
The accident remains under investigation.
