Ex-quarterback Jaworski's golf course lease plan defeated by New Jersey town

A former winning quarterback has lost his plan to lease a New Jersey town's municipal golf course.

Former Philadelphia Eagles star Ron Jaworski's company had proposed a lease to run the course in Brigantine for 15 years.

The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1Gm2PCm ) reports the city council debated the plan for four hours before rejecting it on a 4-3 vote on Wednesday.

The Republican council members all voted no, saying it wasn't in the best interest of the taxpayers.

The deal would have called for the company not to pay the city for the first two years of the deal, then $50,000 in the third year and $100,000 annually after that.

The city owes $1.2 million to pay off debt on the course in the next three years.
