Europe Stocks Lower As Greece Default Worries Hover

European stock markets opened lower on Friday, as tensions surrounding Greece continued to overshadow sentiment. The Stoxx Europe 600 index fell 0.3% to 391.66, while the German DAX 30 index fell 0.8% to 11,249.61 and the French CAC 40 index dropped 0.5% to 4,947.17. On Thursday, the International Monetary Fund announced Thursday that it was halting bailout talks with Greece over a lack of progress toward a deal to avert a Greek default. The Stoxx Europe 600 still remains nearly 1% higher on the week.
