Environmental group enlists actors, humor in ramping up Arctic awareness campaign

Critics of offshore petroleum drilling in the Arctic are turning to humor to make their point.

Greenpeace International says a crew from Funny or Die is on a Greenpeace ship in the Greenland Sea and will make a comedy series of short videos focused on industrial threats to the Arctic.

Also on board are actors Alexander Skarsgard of "True Blood" and Jack McBrayer of "30 Rock."

The celebrity attention underscores how Arctic visibility is increasing.

President Barack Obama became the first sitting president to visit the Arctic when he made a trip to Alaska two weeks ago to highlight changes brought on by climate warming.

Greenpeace campaigner Sune Scheller says the group is trying to reach as many people as possible with the message that the Arctic deserves protection.
