EIA Reports 56 Billion-cubic-foot Rise In U.S. Natural-gas Supplies

Natural-gas futures barely budged on Thursday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that supplies of the commodity rose 56 billion cubic feet for the week ended May 6. That matched the forecast of analysts polled by S&P Global Platts. Total stocks now stand at 2.681 trillion cubic feet, up 816 billion cubic feet from a year ago and 813 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said. June natural gas traded at $2.167 per million British thermal units, down half a penny compared with Wednesday's settlement. Prices traded at $2.170 before the report.
