DuPont Profit Climbs, Backs Full-year Outlook

E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. said on Tuesday third-quarter net profit climbed 52% to $433 million, or 47 cents a share, from $285 million, or 30 cents a share, in the same quarter last year. Adjusted profit rose 20% to 54 cents a share from 45 cents per share last year. Revenue climbed to $7.87 billion from $7.81 billion in the same quarter a year ago, while sales slipped to $7.51 billion from $7.74 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected earnings of 53 cents a share. The chemicals company said it expects sluggish growth in the global economy in the fourth quarter along with headwinds in agriculture. However, DuPont backed its full-year operating earnings guidance of $4.00 - $4.10 per share. DuPont shares were flat ahead of the open.
