Dow Records Fifth Straight Record Close
The Dow Jones Industrial Average logged its fifth straight record close on Monday as a flurry of strong earnings reports boosted U.S. shares. The Dow climbed 16.50 points, or 0.1%, to 18,533.05 with E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. and Home Depot leading the blue-chip gauge higher. The S&P 500 gained 5.15 points, or 0.2%, to 2,168.35, also a record close, with the strongest gains coming from technology and materials shares. The Nasdaq Composite gained 26.19 points, or 0.5%, to 5,055.78.
