Dollar Falls To Five-week Low Against Yen After Disappointing U.S. Data
The U.S. dollar fell to a five-week low against the yen Wednesday morning after a slew of disappointing U.S. economic data rattled investor confidence. It also extended its losses against all of its G-10 rivals, with the exception of the Canadian dollar. U.S. September retail sales dropped 0.3%, below the 0.2% drop expected by economists polled by MarketWatch. The New York Fed's Empire State general business conditions index fell to 6.2 in October from its five-year high of 27.5 in September, much larger than the drop to 21.0 that economists were expecting.
