Dish Network Swings To Profit That Beats Expectations

Dish Networks Corp. reported Wednesday earnings of $343 million, or 70 cents a share, after a loss of $125 million, or 27 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. The FactSet consensus for earnings per share was 66 cents. Revenue slipped to $3.72 billion from $3.78 billion, just shy of the FactSet consensus of $3.76 billion. About 694,000 gross new Pay-TV subscribers were activated during the quarter, compared with 661,000 a year ago, while net Pay-TV subscribers increased by 28,000. The stock, which was still inactive in premarket trade, has rallied 35% over the past 12 months, while the S&P 500 has gained 22%.
