Debbie Reynolds to receive Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award at January ceremony
The Screen Actors Guild is honoring Debbie Reynolds for her professional and humanitarian achievements.
The guild announced Monday that the 82-year-old entertainer will receive the 2014 SAG Life Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in January. The award is the union's highest accolade.
Reynolds is a star of stage and screen, with more than 50 films, two Broadway shows and two television series to her credit. In 1955, she and other young stars established a charity called The Thalians to fight the stigma of mental illness. The Thalians has since raised more than $30 million.
Reynolds published her first memoir in 1987 and updated it with 2013's "Unsinkable: A Memoir."
The 21st annual SAG Awards will be presented Jan. 25 at Los Angeles' Shrine Exhibition Center.
