Dallas nurse who survived Ebola gets new engagement ring, free, provided by Zale

A Dallas nurse who survived Ebola has a new engagement ring to replace the one destroyed as part of decontamination of her apartment.

WFAA-TV (http://bit.ly/1zCskJl ) reports Amber Vinson and fiance Derrick Markray on Tuesday picked out a ring, at no charge, from Zale Corp.

A spokesman for Dallas-based Zale, Chris Nieto, says the company wanted to step up and get Vinson something that helps celebrate her life and express love.

Vinson contracted Ebola while treating patient Thomas Eric Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Duncan died Oct. 8.

Vinson says she hoped her engagement ring, which she left at home during her hospitalization, could be cleaned and saved. But Vinson's jewelry box and its contents were destroyed as part of decontamination.

Specifics weren't immediately available about the donated ring.
