Court: Airline workers cannot be held liable for recollection of passenger's bomb reference

A federal appeals court in New York says airline employees cannot be held liable if they fail to accurately describe a passenger's reference to a bomb when they report it to security authorities.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan gave the workers plenty of leeway Thursday as it rejected a lawsuit brought by a former female executive.

The executive — Rosalinda Baez — had sued New York-based JetBlue Airways Corp., saying the airline falsely accused her of making a bomb threat at Kennedy International Airport in April 2008.

A federal judge in Brooklyn rejected her claims, and she appealed.

Her lawyer, Jon Norinsberg, says he will likely appeal to the Supreme Court. He says Baez lives out of the country and does consulting work.
