Shares of some top consumer companies were up at the close of trading:

Clorox rose $1.17 or 1.1 percent, to $111.37.

Colgate-Palmolive Co. rose $.62 or .9 percent, to $69.95.

Kimberly-Clark Corp. rose $.44 or .4 percent, to $107.46.

Procter & Gamble Co. rose $.61 or .7 percent, to $83.04.
