Conan O'Brien's late-night US talk show debuts on Chinese streaming website
The American late-night talk show "Conan" has racked up more than 3 million hits since its debut on an online video site in China.
The comedy show hosted by Conan O'Brien and featuring celebrity interviews is available on the website of Sohu Video, a unit of Chinese online media group and Nasdaq-listed Sohu.com Inc., the company said Tuesday.
It is accompanied with Chinese subtitles and, in less than two weeks, has received more than 3 million hits.
Like other Chinese online video sites, Sohu licenses many hit American TV shows, including the late-night U.S. comedy sketch show "Saturday Night Live" and Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.
Online video isn't as heavily regulated as television in China and so has more freedom to show dramas and comedies from the United States and other countries.
