Claman on Call: Energy Sees Largest Gain Since March

Retail sales rebounded Tuesday, that may have given the Dow and S&P 500 a boost: both closed in the green. The energy sector saw its largest gain since March and led the S&P's gains.

JP Morgan beat the Street's expectations when it kicked off bank earnings Tuesday -- JPM reported a profit of $5.9 billion and its revenue rose 4% to $24.8 billion. Shareholders also cheered the 10% dividend increase. Shares of JPM hit a 15-year high. Fred Cannon, KBW global director of research, spelled out what to expect from JPM's peers.

The second attempt was a charm, at least for the most part for SpaceX. The company launched its Falcon 9 rocket this afternoon, sending two tons of supplies to the International Space Station, but the detachable rocket landed on the floating platform, too hard to survive.
